ALL ABOUT ASPHALT BATCH MIX PLANT
An Asphalt Batch Mix Plant comprises of cold aggregate supply system; drum dryer; burner; dust collector; hot aggregate elevator; vibrating screen; hot storage bins; filter supply system; weighing and mixing system; Asphalt storage; etc.
Usually, there are a minimum of four cold feeders, but they can be fitted with more depending on the circumstances of work flexibility and grading curve requirements.
HOW IT WORKS?
Aggregates are
- Collected from the stock piles on site;
- Loaded into the cold feeders (each of which, contains a specific aggregate size and fitted with own extractor belt), with a mechanical shovel;
- Fed into the dryer drum vide a conveyor belt, for moisture extraction and heating to the correct temperature; &
- Finally, made ready for mixing and coating with bitumen.
Once done, the hot aggregates, filler and bitumen are weighed and then eventually fed into the mixer. Subsequently, following the mixing process, the asphalt is discharged from the mixer into the storage bin or directly onto the truck-bins.
The versatility of an Asphalt Batch Mix Plant can be gauged from the fact that it produces asphalt in batches, every 40-50 seconds, based on the plant’s capacity and mixing specifications.
